Stéphane Vial's bio & profile

Photography by Remy Bourganel © 2011.
I am graduate as a philosopher and a psychologist.
I come from the academic philosophical culture. I look at the world as a philosopher. But I am a philosopher who is graduate as a clinical psychologist and went through the experience of psychoanalysis. This is one reason why I no longer work in the field of philosophy itself. I am currently working in the field of design and digital medias.
I am an interactive creative director.
I am founder and creative director at LEKTUM, an independent creative team specializing in content management solutions for art, culture, research and non-profit websites. We believe that the Web is not dead, and that it is more than ever leading us to a new social world.
I am a teacher, my first job.
I teach at several schools of art and design in Paris (École Boulle, École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, École de Condé) and at Paris 1 Sorbonne University. My courses deal with philosophy applied to design, digital medias or Web design.
I am a researcher.
I am interested in digital culture and design as theoretical issues, particularly the problem of digital design. I am the author of the Short Treatise on Design (PUF, 2010) with foreword by Patrick Jouin and already translated in Swedish.
